#OSCARS: When will it be poor Leo's turn?

Image
I'm sure I'm not the only one who has wondered why it is that Leonardo DiCaprio has not won not one oscar since What's eating Gilbert Grape ? I know he didn't win for that role, but I think that role and the one with Robert DeNiro were the first instances of his immense talent. There's this rumor that the academy will not award handsome actors or young actors for that matter. I think the latter is untrue, but the former….hmmm. Anyway, I wonder if anyone else felt that he deserved the award for his role in Wolf of Wall Street  or any of his other roles for that matter. I didn't see that movie, I heard it has gratuitous sex in it, which is fine for some, but I just feel that that can take away from the beauty of a story. Just my opinion, not a prude!  ~Kinda feel bad for the guy

Check out this speech Lupita Nyong'o gave at the "Black Women In Hollywood awards" Lupita delivers moving speech I'm sure she, like many of us, could have never even fathomed her wildest dreams coming into fruition. Life, however, can be steered in the direction of whatever fortune we desire! I believe that, wholeheartedly.  Here are some highlights: I want to take this opportunity to talk about beauty, black beauty, dark beauty. I received a letter from a girl and I’d like to share just a small part of it with you: “Dear Lupita,” it reads, “I think you’re really lucky to be this Black but yet this successful in Hollywood overnight. I was just about to buy Dencia’s Whitenicious cream to lighten my skin when you appeared on the world map and  saved me.” My heart  bled a little when I read those words, I could never have guessed that my first job out of  school  would be so powerful in and of itself and that it would propel me to be such an image of

Sewing Projects!:Ankara designs

So…for those that don't know, ankara fabric is a colorfully designed cotton fabric worn by west africans. I LOOOOVE ankara, and my goal is to sew these designs.  I'm very curvy (in the front and the back  😊  ), so finding clothes that fit properly is ummm….difficult lol!  Sewing and designing has always been my dream, so this year I'm fulfilling that dream. Here are just a few designs that I want to attempt using ankara fabric! ~~If you have any advice on sewing with ankara fabric, do please share!~~
